ATTENTION
Some of the pictures and stories shown on the following pages may be disturbing. In many of these cases, the stories are tragic. People have been seriously injured and in some instances, killed. Those involved frequently have suffered very significant, sometimes permanent injuries. The patients, their families, and their friends have all suffered
as a result of these events.
We often receive calls from patients or their families asking us about what happened during an incident. The following photos and stories are provided, similar to a newspaper account, for educational and informational purposes. It is our hope that through education, tragic incidents such as these can be prevented.
Every GCVFD member that responded to the calls send their thoughts and condolences
to everyone affected by the incidents.

Station 2 Alerted for Another Brush Fire

On November 18th at 2210hrs the Great Cacapon fire company was dispatched for a brush fire on Doe Gully Road in the area of the CSX Tracks. Tanker 2 and Brush 26 responded along with Lieutenant 2. Units arrived on scene to find a fire that was smoldering. All units returned to service.

2 House alerted for the Brush Fire

| On November 18th at 1519hrs the Great Cacapon fire company was dispatched for a brush fire at 2000 Gamble Lane. Tanker 2 and Brush 2 repsonded at 1527hrs, Company 32 (Paw Paw Fire) was alerted to assist and responded with Tanker 32 and Brush 32. Tanker 2 arrived on scene to find about a 1/2 acre involved in close proximity to a structure. Tanker 2 established Gamble Lane command and held units that were responding. At 1550hrs command advised fire was knocked down holding all units for mop up. All units returned to service at 1654hrs |

Vehicle Accident

| On November 14th the Great Cacapon fire company was dispatched for a vehicle accident on Cold Run Valley Road (Berkeley Springs). Rescue Engine 2 responded with a crew of 5 and the Chief along with Engine 11, Squad 1 (Berkeley Springs Fire), Medic 74, (Morgan Rescue). |

Barn Fire

| On November 11th at 0136 Hrs the Great Cacapon fire company was dispatched for a barn fire at 5103 Martinsburg Road (Berkeley Springs). Tanker 2 and Tanker 22 responded along with Engine 11, Squad 1 (Berkeley Springs Fire), Medic 74, (Morgan Rescue), Tanker 325, Tanker 320, Brush 361 (South Morgan Fire), Engine 51 and Engine 53, Special Unit 5 and Car 5 (Hancock, MD Fire), Engine Tanker 32, Engine 30 and Utility 30 (Hedgesville, WV Fire), Tanker 43 (Orleans, MD Fire) . While enroute Medic 74 went on the scene and advised of heavy Fire conditions coming from the structure. Dispatch advised all units they have recieved 10 calls with one caller stating an extremely large barn filled with 200 round bails of hay. Engine 11 arrived on scene and chief 1 established advised of a large barn fully involved with possible exposure and a large brush fire requested additional brush units. Command advised Engine 53 (Hancock, MD Fire) to establish water supply and start tanker shuttles to a draft site on Potomac Road. Command advised the fire was contained at approx 0219 Hrs with an extended overhaul period. |

2nd Structure Fire

| On November 6th at 0338 Hrs The Great Cacapon Fire Company was once again alerted for a second structure fire at the same address as previously dispatched on November 5th at 11:55 Hrs at 117 Ewing Street (Berkeley Springs). Rescue Engine 2 and Tanker 2 responded along with Engine 11, Squad 1 (Berkeley Springs Fire), Medic 74 (Morgan Rescue), Engine 51, Engine 53, Utility 5, Car 5 and Special Unit 5 (Hancock, MD Fire), Engine 41 (Clear Spring, MD Fire), Engine 21 (Williamsport, MD Fire), Wagon 16 (Gainesboro, VA Fire), Engine 20 (Reynolds Store, VA Fire), Engine Tanker 32, Engine 30 (Hedgesville, WV Fire) . While enroute Medic 74 and Engine 11 went on the scene and advised of heavy Fire conditions coming from the structure. Engine 11 established command and advised all units of live power lines down on the ground a vehicle has exploded and a large brush fire to the rear of the residence. While enroute Engine Tanker 32 (Hedgesville, WV Fire) was diverted to Station 1 for the transfer. |

Structure Fire

| On November 5th at 11:55 Hrs the Great Cacapon fire company was dispatched for a House fire at 117 Ewing Street (Berkeley Springs). Rescue Engine 2 responded along with Engine 11, Squad 1 (Berkeley Springs Fire), Medic 74, Medic 73 (Morgan Rescue), Engine 51 and Engine 53 (Hancock, MD Fire), Rescue Squad 59 (Hancock, MD Rescue) . While enroute Medic 74 went on the scene and advised of heavy smoke conditions coming from the structure. Assistant Chief 1 arrived on scene and took command advised all units access will be off Martinsburg Road also advised of a working structure fire in the basement. The fire was brought under control at approx 1218 Hrs |

Vehicle Fire

| On October 28th at 14:31 Hrs the Great Cacapon fire company was dispatched for a single fire at 1630 Cold Run Valley Road. Rescue Engine 2 and Tanker 22 responded along with Tanker 12 (Berkeley Springs Fire), Tanker 3-20 (South Morgan Fire), Medic 74 (Morgan Rescue), Engine 51 and Engine 53 (Hancock, MD Fire), Tanker 43 (Orleans Fire) . While enroute Medic 74 went on the scene and advised of fire conditions less than 15 feet from the structure. |

Smoke in the Structure

| On October 27th at 15:21 Hrs the Great Cacapon fire company was dispatched for the smoke in the structure at 68 Radio Station Lane. Tanker 22 responded along with Engine 15 (Berkeley Springs Fire), Tanker 3-20 (South Morgan Fire), Engine 51 and Engine 53 (Hancock, MD FIre). While enroute Ambulance 7-3 went on the scene and advised of a light smoke condition. Engine 15 arrived on the scene to find a light haze of smoke in the basement, LT 1 gave a size up to dispatch and held Engine 15 and Tanker 22 all other units were placed back in service. |

MVA with Fuel Spill

On August 19th at 17:00 Hrs the Great Cacapon fire company was dispatched for the MVA W/Fuel Spill on Cacapon Road.
Rescue Engine 2 responded with 5 and the Chief went enroute to the scene. While enroute dispatch advised they recieved a
follow up call advising of a trailer hauling equipment that had over turned. Rescue Engine 2 arrived on the scene to find the roadway blocked, Chief 2 gave a size up to dispatch and established Cacapon Road command and requested Co. 1
(Berkeley Springs) to assist with traffic. Units remained on the scene until 20:55 hrs. |

Single Vehicle MVA

On August 6th Great Cacapon fire was dispatched for the Single Vehicle MVA in the 9800 block of Cacapon Road.
Res/Eng 2 and the Morgan County Rescue went enroute to the scene. |
