The first tanker owned by the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company was an old 1940's Autocar with a 3000 gallon tank which was originally a fuel truck. The motor in this tanker would not pull a full load of water up Sidling Hill Mountain and a person actually had to walk beside it letting water off when it slowed down and closing the valve when it picked up speed. The first new fire engine owned by the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company was purchased in 1962. For a tour of our fire department or our services please contact us. Thank You!
